Could Pelvic Torsion Be the Source of Your Unexplained Pain?

If you experience persistent bodily pain for which the diagnosis has been vague or inconclusive...

...you may be suffering from a condition known as pelvic torsion.

This widespread but poorly understood problem can be responsible for a wide range of bewildering symptoms and persistent pain that don’t seem to respond to treatment.

Why?

A right anterior rotation and left posterior rotation.

1) Because pelvic torsion causes a functional leg-length discrepancy that throws the body off its center line of balance.

2) This triggers a chain reaction of muscular compensation that can’t be diagnosed by looking at isolated parts of the body only.

Muscles forced to compensate in this way are literally in a struggle against gravity.

This struggle leads to strain and dysfunction that can produce pain virtually anywhere in the body.

If you've ever felt like your body was under constant strain no matter what you do, no matter how much you twist and turn or stretch and exercise, then pelvic torsion may be the root cause.

Postural distortion can cause an "S" curve in the spine.

If exercising that once felt beneficial and enlivening now mostly feels aggravating, it may be because pelvic torsion has you in its grip.

Over time, limited mobility and reduced physical activity can progress to the point where one feels imprisoned in one’s own body.

This is the situation so many of my clients have faced and this is why I have focused so much on strategies to correct pelvic torsion.

Pelvic torsion can be responsible for a wide range of downstream pain and mysterious symptoms...

Potential Regions of Pain & Symptoms

  • Low Back Pain

  • SI Joint Pain

  • Gluteal Pain

  • Sciatic Pain

  • Hip Pain

  • Groin Pain

  • Abdominal Pain

  • Lower Extremity

  • Upper Extremity

  • Shoulder Pain

  • Neck Pain

  • TMJ (Jaw) Pain

Low Back Pain

Pelvic torsion has a significant and direct impact on the lumbar spine, causing an uneven distribution of pressure on the vertebrae and intervertebral discs. This misalignment can result in a cascade of issues affecting the lower back region.

The twisted position of the pelvis creates an imbalance in the supporting muscles, leading to excessive strain on one side while potentially weakening the other. This muscular imbalance not only contributes to chronic tension but also alters the normal biomechanics of the spine.

Further, uneven pressure on vertebrae can irritate facet joints, causing inflammation and pain. This misalignment may also affect intervertebral discs, leading to wear, bulging, or herniation.

These factors - muscular imbalance, joint irritation, and disc issues - often result in chronic low back pain. This pain can vary from dull aches to sharp pains, impacting quality of life. Compensatory postures may further exacerbate the original pelvic torsion, creating a cycle of discomfort and misalignment.

Whole Body Effects and Broader Health Impacts

  • Uneven Muscle Development

  • Reduced Range of Motion

  • Difficulty with Exercises

  • Postural Distortion

  • Gastrointestinal Issues

  • Breathing Difficulties

  • Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

  • Fatigue and Mood Swings

Uneven Muscle Development

Pelvic torsion can cause uneven muscle development between the left and right sides of your body. This asymmetry may appear in various muscle groups, including the legs and upper body.

The difference in muscle size or tone results from the body's attempts to compensate for pelvic misalignment, leading to overuse of some muscles and underuse of others.
